What happens when you fall in love with your best friend?
I have the best job in the world. Date beautiful women and write about it.
But I want to take it to the next level instead of writing about my experiences make it into an online reality show.
But here is the catch. My boss wants me to share the show with a woman co-host. And he wants that woman to be my best friend and co-worker, Margo.
I’ll date beautiful women and she’ll date hot men. Sounds fair enough.
So now I have to watch her fake date hot men. I used to love going home with a different woman every night, but suddenly this isn’t as fun. Seeing Margo with anyone else is driving me crazy.
And the more time I spend with her working on the show, the less I want to keep our relationship in the friends’ zone. And the harder it is to stop myself from imagining her bent over the copier.
Things are about to get unprofessional.

Friends to lovers is my favorite and Margo and Owen are exactly that having been friends for years starting in college and eventually working together side by side at TrendBlend the wildly popular online website. They are experiencing opposite levels of satisfaction in their romantic lives and careers but are completely safe in their friendship.I really felt their solid friendship from both their perspective until they drunkenly take it to the next level. The natural progression of events feels real and not a story. I love a good book where I leave my time and space and slip into a new reality and feel what the characters are feeling. The writing is cleverly solid and dotted with LA pop and online trends.
The personal grow by both Owen and Margo is slow and a bit painful but honest and rewarding in their eventual outcome. I'm a sucker for a great epilogue and this one doesn't disappoint. I'm a big fan of this book and I give it a solid five stars.

Unprofessional edition by JD Hawkins Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Ok, total cliched romcom (and smutty -- I want to be clear the hot action is explicit), but done well. Both hero & heroine are appealing -- attractive, charming, smart, kind, ambitious, and respectful to each other. The set up is good, the dual points of view give both a satisfying level of insight into each character's feelings as well as keeping the level of tension high (while you're reading one character's point of view, it's easy to to get excited and wonder what the other's impressions/emotions of the situation are).
I like that both parties are strong-willed and see each other as equals, but I do wish the heroine was a bit less passive when it came to their relationship.
Also, a quibble when they finally come clean about their feelings for each other, they just use the phrase "I love you." This felt anti-climactic, as they'd been friends (best friends, really) for eight years -- surely they're both aware they love each other; seems like "I'm in love with you" would have made more sense.
All in all, I enjoyed it (picked it up for free on recently); enough that this free version did its work I've since picked up 4 more of the author's books.
If you want a fluffy, erotic romcom with only enough angst and tension to keep you interested, pick this up. Perfect beach read.
Oh JD, you always seem to amaze me and you've delivered us another exceptional book with Unprofessional.
Owen and Margo are easy to connect with and watching them fall in love is exciting and seductive. I especially love that they have a history, and it's their past that provided the foundation for their relationship to grow.
In a friends to lovers story I am always excited to see how the relation evolves when the situation presents its self. Owen and Margo are partnered for a work project and things take a turn that heat up.
Owen is an alpha male that you can't help but fall in love with. The feelings he has for Margo can only be reigned in for so long before things come to ahead. Margo may see Owen as a playboy, but she can't deny she's always had a bit of a crush on him. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two and couldn't get enough of them.
Unprofessional is a compelling story full of heart, heat, and intensity that keeps the readers attention until the luscious end. In a world dominated by female authors, I love that JD somehow breaks through all that and gives us an exceptional book time after time.
Unprofessional was my frist read by Mr. Hawkins. And boy, am I kicking myself for not having read his works sooner. A thoroughly surprising book in the best way possible.
The story of the playboy who realises his best girl friend is it for him is one that has been done a lot. So is the story of the coworkers who couldn't, shouldn't.. then do get together, and after some shuffling and working things out end up together, isn't new either.
But the way in which Mr. Hawkins tells the story is quite unique. Margo and Owen are each rather headstrong characters, and convinced in their stances. Their genuine friendship while always admiring the other, even feeling attracted to one another is enviable. But then.. alcohol happens. And then their one line they never wanted to cross becomes a little blurred.
A story of friendship blossoming. Of what seem like drunken mistakes, but might just be the push in the right direction. Of gentle reminders of the love between two people coming forth, even when they never wanted it to. Of life and it's tumultous waves it throws at us.
Mr. Hawkins excells at bringing us two main characters who are endearing, frustrating, all around loveable and yet so complex. His writing surprised me, in its honesty, clarity, no fuss or unnecessary frills, just clear, strong, soft, emotion-enducing storytelling, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Cannot wait to go back and read more from this author, who I admittedly underestimated.
Sleeping with a co-worker is bad. But sleeping with a co-worker who is also your best friend? Insanity, right? Crossing that line could be all kinds of trouble for Owen and Margo. Try as they might, all of the secret looks, longing, and will power get pushed to side during a St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
I loved Owen and Margo! I connected with them immediately and fell hard for them both. Their story is sweet, funny, and full of adventure. Everything about them; their love for each other as friends, how much Owen truly cares for Margo on such a deep level in every possible way, and them finding their way to extending that into being lovers, is completely believable. This couple is absolutely amazing together. Their chemistry out and in the bedroom, off the charts SCORCHING and amazing. Owen as a laid back, flirty guy is nothing compared to the domineering man in the bedroom. JD had me swooning and fanning myself constantly.
If you’ve never read a JD Hawkins book before, make this one your first. You will be hooked from the very beginning. The writing is smart, witty, and has you connecting with the characters so easily you feel as though you’re immersed in their world from the very beginning.
